On Friday morning, religious and lay Catholics from apostolates and the fields of government, politics, education, Catholic ministry, medicine, and business will gather in our nation’s capital for the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast to pray for our country.

“It is a blessing to attend the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast. The Prayer Breakfast brings Catholics together in communion with our Lord Jesus Christ to do the first and most important work of a Christian disciple: to pray and seek to follow the Holy Spirit’s wisdom in all human events. Above all else, prayer reminds us that our lives, our families, our society and our nation are totally dependent on the Divine Providence of God. The Prayer Breakfast give us a special opportunity to pray for the whole Church, for our country, and for the world, and the many challenges that man faces in this time in history. In a special way, we also will be able to pray for the Holy Father, Pope Francis, for his healing and recovery,” said Louis Brown, Jr., Esq, Executive Director of the Christ Medicus Foundation.

“Tomorrow’s Prayer Breakfast is also an important moment to encourage the new Presidential Administration and Congress to do all they can to defend and uphold the right to life and human dignity throughout federal law, regulation, and policy, especially in health care. We are very grateful to the Trump Administration for their actions to protect life, medical conscience, and biological scientific reality of the human person” including the President’s new:

  • Executive Order ‘Enforcing the Hyde Amendment’ upholding federal law that prohibits taxpayer dollars from funding most abortions (and reversing the Biden Administration’s abortion coercion);
  • Reinstituting the Mexico City Policy stopping the federal funding of abortion in foreign countries; and
  • Executive Order ‘Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government’ establishing the policy of the United States to recognize the scientific biological reality that there are only two sexes, male and female, and rejecting unethical and destructive gender ideology.

“Furthermore, we are grateful for President Trump, Vice President Vance, and their Administration’s robust support of this year’s March for Life and pardoning of pro-life protestors who were unjustly prosecuted,” Louis continued.

“While we are very grateful to the Trump Administration’s outstanding pro-life actions, we are disappointed and deeply concerned about the new executive order promoting in vitro fertilization (IVF). The biological scientific reality of human life must be cherished, respected, and protected at all stages of development, even the most nascent. In everything we must remember charity in our interactions with those on all sides of this issue. On areas of agreement, we hope to closely collaborate with the Trump Administration to further advance law and policy that protects life and human dignity in health care. In those areas of disagreement, such as IVF, we hope to engage in constructive dialogue to identify areas of potential common ground, such as restorative reproductive health that seeks to heal and restore the underlying causes of infertility and to help families naturally conceive children.

“I firmly believe we are in a watershed cultural moment. Through prayer, fasting, and bold leadership we can secure historic advances for the culture of life in health care for a generation. Through prayer, fasting, and courageous evangelization, we can build a civilization of love and justice centered in the healing love of Jesus Christ. To be successful, by God’s grace, we urgently need Catholic leadership to promote, defend, and advance the sanctity of life and the human dignity of every person in law, health care, and every sector of civil society. Catholic leadership always lives beyond any political party or ideology. Today, Catholic leadership must continue to witness and defend the image and likeness of God present in every human person from conception to natural death. We are grateful to the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast for the opportunity to pray and to witness to Jesus Christ and His Church,” said Louis.
