If the Court overturns Roe, then abortion law likely will be determined by the states. That makes the work of the Christ Medicus Foundation and similar apostolates even more important.

“The end to Roe v. Wade is possibly at hand” with the United States Supreme Court hearing oral arguments on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization this Thursday, said Jordan Buzza, Esq., Director of CMF CURO, a Catholic ministry offering Christ-centered, pro-life health care.

“In a country founded upon the ideal that all human beings are created equal and endowed with an inalienable right to life, how we continue to deny the humanity of the unborn and kill them by the millions is unconscionable,” he said. In the United States alone, over 62 million children have been killed by abortion since 1973 according to the National Right to Life Education Committee.  That is an average of more than 1.3 million unborn boys and girls every year.

“We are hopeful and thankful for the ongoing prayers and tireless efforts of individuals across America and over generations who know the truth, speak the truth, and act for the truth. Without their work, we would not even be looking at the possibility of ending abortion,” said Mr. Buzza.

“If the Court overturns Roe, then abortion law likely will be determined by the states.  If that happens, the unborn likely will have greater protection in places such as Texas and Mississippi, but far less protection in places such as New York and California. That makes the work of the Christ Medicus Foundation and similar apostolates even more important.

“Our work must continue beyond a Courtroom victory, which would thankfully protect life in a number of states. We actually have to actively build a culture of life across the entire country, so that life is fully protected in all states. We need to cultivate respect for all persons in light of our God-given dignity. We need to be building up pro-life healthcare institutions that respect life, human dignity, and the whole health of the person—mind, body, and soul. We need to be protecting the right of conscience so medical professionals can give care in line with the authentic good of their patients. We need to actively love those in need.”

“I ask everyone to join us in praying for a Supreme Court decision that respects the humanity and equality of the unborn.  We pray, too, for our Supreme Court Justices, that their hearts and minds may be open to reason, scientific fact, and the truth of human equality.”

“In addition to the Supreme Court decision, I invite each of us to pray and discern about how we can build up pro-life health care and choose solutions that build the culture of life, just as CMF CURO is working to do together with all its members and the pro-life community,” said Mr. Buzza.
